TE RANGA BLOGS!

Thursday afternoon and Te Ranga Staff will be exploring blogs. Classblogmeister is great and as a tool for learning it withstands my crap detector. It supports learning which is Authentic, Rich Real & Relevant.

I am exploring still and WoW! I have just uploaded the image of the Nga Tii Roa and me! I was surprised it was so simple...

Images have to be compressed to less than 65kb (I think). I used MS Picture Manager to do this. Once saved on my computer, I went into my classblogmeister page, then to Control Panel and way down at the bottom there is an option to upload the images.
1. Class Image will appear in upper LHC of the blog pages of all your students, and all your articles
2. Personal Image will appear in upper right corner of all your blog pages but not the students

I hope Maketu will try this out too.

Thanks Lorraine, my head is still buzzing. Here's my PMI:
Plus: A great way to get the kids safely into blogworld and it seems relatively easy. Afternoon tea was very nice.
Minus: I still have a lot of questions and the photo editing looks scary.
Improvements: More time and 1-1. No fruit tingles.
So What: I am really keen to try it. I hope it is manageable and doesn't cut too much into other teaching time, especially with juniors.

A great tool for the kids to use. Can see them using it for all curriculum areas to share what they are doing, asking questions in inquiry learning, adding pics,. A tool to create a link with students in other schools, hopefully overseas!

Next Step - To crack on and have a go!! Any minus's - won't know till they start.

Plus
I really enjoyed the session and I learnt a lot! I think blogs are a great way to encourage children to produce high quality work since their work can be viewed not only by the local community but the www.

Minus
Yet another task for teachers to do. COuld become neglected.

Hi Janet Blaauw here again Lorraine,

I am at home today being a midwife to my choc lab who is about to become a mum at any minute. Thought I may as well utilise the time by looking further into blogging! Managed to add photos of my class and myself on my page. Will keep having a play throughout the day.
Thanks for the course last night. I can see this is going to be a great tool for my class!
